Fighting for the Four Freedoms for Northern Wisconsin

John was raised with strong Northern values; democracy, freedom, and a strong "live and let live" attitude. Like you, John is worried that these values are slipping away from our government. John wants to work with you to preserve these values, protect the environment that makes the Northwoods unique, and revitalize our rural economy.

John is running to preserve our freedom. John doesn't just mean the narrow and shortsighted freedom that the Republicans claim to champion, but Four Freedoms: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear.

These four freedoms were described by the last great rural Democrat President Franklin Roosevelt in his 1941 State of the Union Address and used throughout World War 2 as a message of unity. Norman Rockwell's paintings of the four freedoms projected these ideals of freedom across the country. This vison of four freedoms built a generation of rural Democrats in the face of economic upheaval and a rapidly changing world. Today's rural challenges are just as important; John knows we must face these matters head on and clear eyed by understanding how we succeeded in the past.
